Scipione sets Sardinia on fire, temperatures up to 40 degrees on the island

The heat is coming to Sardinia. Peaks of 40 degrees are expected in the next few hours, according to the website www.iLMeteo.it , in the wake of the African anticyclone.

Scipione continues to dominate the southern regions and the islands, with temperatures above the seasonal average, while in the north a cold air mass arriving from northern Europe brings strong thunderstorms that from Monday will also extend to the mountainous areas of central and southern Italy.

But let’s get back to today: according to meteorologist Mattia Gussoni today “maximum peaks of up to 36-37°C are expected in Tuscany, Lazio and Umbria with peaks above 40°C in the inland areas of Sardinia and Sicily. Wide sunny spaces and boiling temperatures initially also in the North”.

However, a cold air mass is arriving which, colliding with the warm air present over Italy, could generate thunderstorms, expected initially over the western Alps, then over the plains of Piedmont and Lombardy and during the night also in Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia.

It is expected that from Monday the unstable air masses could move towards the regions of Central and Southern Italy and a drop in temperatures is also expected on the Island to values in line with the averages for this period.

Monday 16: violent thunderstorms in the North, followed by a drop in temperatures; thunderstorms in the Center on the mountains, sun and heat elsewhere: some showers in the South on the mountains.
